Heading home
Oct 16 , 2013
It is cold. Sunny but cold. Jason from Super ATV calls and tells us they are sending us a new power steering kit for the razor. We had bought one of the first ones made and there have been a few problems. Even though we have had it for two years and the warranty is up they are going to replace it for free. Again, what a great company!
We decided it is time to head for home. Still need to get a few things finished up so that we can just go when we want and in a week we are heading to Las Vegas Motor Speedway to watch the NHRA races. Our son and his wife are going to join us and we told them they could ride down with us. So home here we come.
Nine day out, playing with good friends in a great place. Cannot ask for anything better. Cannot wait until we can do it again.
Six hours later we are home. Now to start getting ready for the next trip.
Waiting for the UPS driver
Oct 15, 2013
What a pretty morning. Waiting for the UPS driver. The park owner said he usually comes around 3 pm. Going to be a long day waiting for that part.
We decided to head to town. I like Moab. It is a fun little place and lots of shops. Do a little window shopping and head back. It is pretty today, but cold.
A little after 3pm the part arrives. DH is excited and hopes this will fix the problem. Out he goes with the part and my fingers are crossed. The part they sent is not the right one. So a quick phone call to Super ATV and hope they are still open. We were able to contact Jason, the person at Super ATV and tell him the problem. He states he will look into it and get back with us. But it is after 3pm here and after 5pm where Super ATV is located. So we will wait until morning to hear back from them.
I really don't mind being down right now as 6 days of hard riding deserves a couple of days of rest.
Dinner and good movie are on the agenda for tonight.
Moving to OK RV park
Oct. 14, 2013
It has been a great 7 days so far. Six days for some great riding. Wow, I am worn out. But I am so glad we have seen as much as we have. The Moab area is so amazing and beautiful.
Today we will be moving to OK RV Park in Moab. Need to dump and get water and see about getting the power steering on the Razor fixed.
Say good bye to all of our friends and head out. We only have about a 15 minute drive.
We arrive at the OK RV Park and settle in. DH calls Super ATV where he purchased the power steering and tells them the problem we are having. Now it has been 2 years since we bought the kit and they are going to send us the part they think we need for FREE. I do have to pay shipping because we want it sent overnight. But still FREE for the part. I must say Super ATV is a great company to work with. I would highly recommend them to everyone.
The rest of the day we just hang out and relax. The weather is cold, but good.
Just a nice relaxing for the day.

Moab - Metal Masher? Oct. 13, 2013
Oct 13, 2013
Rick and Dawn have moved from thier camp site to camp with us for the remainer of the weekend. The guys are trying to find the problem with the power steering on our razor, but cannot find it.
Oh well, we are not going to let this stop us from going out and doing the Metal Masher trail. We have now riden for 5 straight days. Some of us are feeling a bit woren out. Russ and Jodee decide not to ride today, so it is us and Rick and Dawn. We all agree that we should go do the Metal Masher trail.
We are off for a day of good riding. We are headed to Metal Masher.....but wait lets try Gold Bar Rim first.
The trail is rocky (what we like best) and it is a beautiful day.
Around this corner we find this ....
It is about a 6-7 foot drop off...Well should we go or should we turn around....Only one machine has a wench.
After about a 15 minute discussion, not knowing what else we might find, and deciding we don't enough people to help us get back up this, we decided to turn around. All of the trail guides (books) we had with us just stated few machines go all the way and that there are 2 or 3 areas like this one. Oh we will be back to do this one day.
Off to find Metal Masher
We find the trail head. The signs state it is a 22 mile ride.
I love these signs.
We have heard a lot of people say this is a metal mashing trail, but so far it is an easy ride. But after about a mile down the road we start into the ROCK CLIMBING.
This is one of those areas ( and I cannot remember the name it is called) where you have two choices. Go up and over or go around. It is always fun to watch others try this first.
We decide to go around.
We are camped down there. I thought we were much further away from camp.
This trail took us about 4 hours. It was a slow rock crawling trail but so much fun.
We still have plenty of daylight and just could not see wasting it at camp. Time to find a another trail.
This trail is along the pole line. It is a box canyon but worth going on.
It has been a good day and lots of fun riding with Rick and Dawn. Now it is time to head to camp, have dinner and sit around the fire.

Moab - Small World Oct. 12, 2013
Oct 12, 2013
We were sitting at the table having coffee waiting for everyone to get ready to go ride and out the window we see a orange madness/blue 900 RZR turned into the camp area. DH jumps up and tell me that's Rick and Dawn, a couple we ride with a lot.
We did not know they were down in this area and they had no idea we were here either. Small world.
Russ and Jodee have met Rick and Dawn before so it will be a great day. The six of us decide it is a good day to ride the Seven Mile Rim trail. So off we go.
This trail is not a smooth ride. Lots of rocks to climb. It is going to be hard to take pictures. I am usually taking most of my pictures while DH is driving.
A small detour, actually it is a part of the Seven Mile Rim trails is Uranium Arch. A must stop and see site.
After the stop and a small break it is back onto trail
While in the middle of Seven Mile Rim trail we had a small breakdown. My DH lost the power steering on the razor. Not a serious problem except we are climbing over a lot of rocks and he is so use to the power steering. He is hating the steering right now.
When we finish Seven Mile Rim there is still a lot of day light and we cannot force ourselves to go back to camp. So off to Mill Canyon. There are some interesting sights to be seen in this canyon. We are headed to the Dinosaur Trail.
Here a some of the sights we saw. I took pictures of each one, but hey, got to leave something for you to go and see.
I cannot believe these bones are still here in their natural preservation.
What a great day. We have seen so much today. I love being able to take the Razor out and see
things I would never be able to see in a day.
We head back to camp and settle in with a nice dinner and a good movie, while I massage my poor DH's arms, shoulders and back.
